The Waterfront

From sunrise to sunset, the bay offers endless ways to spend the day. There is always something to do — or absolutely nothing at all. Get out on the water*, linger at the shoreline, cast a line, rake for clams, take a paddle, swim for sport, or simply settle in and watch the light shift across the bay.

*Bringing your own boat, sailboat, or jet ski? Guests may be able to launch nearby and keep their watercraft just offshore during their stay. Local permitting and anchoring or mooring rules apply; contact us in advance for details.

On the Beach

A 100-foot stretch of private beach gives guests room to spread out along the shore. Private stairs lead directly down from the cottages. Families have space for sand castles and play at the water’s edge, while those seeking a quieter escape can settle into a quiet spot of their own.

On the Water

There is something magical and unforgettable about waterskiing across Peconic Bay as the sun begins to set, with the water as smooth as glass and the whole bay aglow. And on breezier days, sailors and windsurfers get their turn. Morning, afternoon, or evening, the bay offers a wonderful balance of conditions — so whatever your favorite way to get out on the water, there will be a moment made for it.

Just a quarter-mile walk down the beach — or a short drive — Meschutt Beach County Park is a local favorite, with a playground, food concession, kayak rentals, scuba diving, and live music in the evenings.

Wildlife

Ospreys, seagulls, and the occasional bald eagle share the shoreline. Keep an eye on the trees and the rocks just offshore — you never know what you'll spot.

The Grounds

For those who prefer to stay on land, the grounds offer their own kind of escape — green lawns, flowering gardens, quiet corners, and wide-open views that make it easy to linger outside at all times of the day. Lilies, roses, flowering crepe myrtles, Montauk daisies, and flowering beds of color keep the property blooming from spring into fall. And, for those visiting from late summer into autumn, the fig harvest is abundant enough for everyone to enjoy!

Winter on the Bay

The Hamptons take on a different character in the off-season. The crowds disappear, the pace slows, and Peconic Bay settles into a kind of quiet that feels almost otherworldly. Snow along the bluff, winter light across the water, and long, peaceful days make this an especially beautiful place to retreat, think, create, or simply disappear from the noise for a while.

For a writer, an artist, a remote worker, or anyone craving a little solitude, Peconic View Cottages offers room to breathe, space to think, and the serenity of the bay just outside your window. Select cottages are available for extended and year-round stays.

After Dark, the Bay Still Shines

Once the sun goes down, the bay takes on a different kind of beauty. Shooting stars streak overhead, moonlight shimmers across the water, constellations come into easy view, and every so often, fireworks light up the sky — especially around the Fourth of July, but sometimes when you least expect them. It is one more reason to linger outside long after sunset.
